The team

The Three Hands team is made up of the many hands of our core staff, associates and facilitators. Between us we have a wealth of experience in the private and voluntary sectors, spanning corporate social responsibility, community engagement, sustainability, HR and learning & development, in the UK and overseas.

The core team

Simon Hamilton
Founder and Director

Simon Hamilton Having escaped from a twenty year business career as a Chartered Accountant I discovered the delights of working in the voluntary sector in the UK and overseas. It was this combination of experience of both sectors that led me to set up Three Hands in 1998. Since then, I've worked at the interface between the business and voluntary sectors, devising and implementing a series of pioneering programmes designed to benefit both. I'm lucky enough to have worked all over the UK and internationally, from Mongolia to the Kalahari Desert. One of the first Three Hands community-based learning programmes we devised, the Pfizer 'Children's Hospital Playbox Challenge', won a National Training Award.

Jan Levy
Managing Director

Jan Levy I've spent over four years at Three Hands devising and implementing community-based learning & development programmes and developing the various ways in which we deliver a positive business impact and a positive social impact. I love running a small business that touches people's hearts as well as their minds and that resonates with the good in all people and companies. Previously I was at Business in the Community, working on various corporate community involvement initiatives and I have an MBA from IESE Business School, Barcelona. I've volunteered with NGO's in La Paz, Bolivia, dedicated to assisting orphaned and deaf children and I've recently become a coach with UK charity Youth at Risk.

Sean Nelson
International Director

Sean Nelson I'm responsible for managing Three Hands' overseas projects. I used to be a Director of Raleigh International and I've spent over ten years developing and managing UK and overseas expeditions and projects. I have excellent experience of in-country organisation in many parts of the world, particularly specialising in Africa, central America and Asia.

Georgina Ross
Project Manager

Georgina Ross After completing a joint honours degree in History and French, I began my career on the trading floor of a European investment bank. I enjoyed the fast paced environment, but after two years I decided that I wanted to transfer my skills over to a role focused on the voluntary sector. This led me to a role recruiting fundraising and marketing staff for charities across the UK for two years. In 2008 I joined Three Hands, and this has given me the opportunity to use my skills to bridge the gap between businesses and the voluntary sector. I enjoy the balance between getting under the skin of a charity and understanding its needs, and working with businesses to help them to address their development needs.

Tom James
Senior Manager

Tom James I joined Three Hands in November 2009 after 6 years working for a funky team building and events company in London. In that time I designed a number of events where team development was combined with community engagement activities and found the results incredibly rewarding for all parties involved, myself included. This encouraged me to do a Masters in CSR and to apply to work with Three Hands. I have always been fascinated about how you get the best out of people, whether on the sports field or in the workplace and I truly believe that community investment programmes, when structured well, really can inspire and develop people and thereby deliver real business benefit.
