The Three Hands team

The Three Hands team is made up of the many hands of our directors, associates and facilitators. Between us, we have a wealth of experience in the private and voluntary sectors, spanning corporate social responsibility, community engagement and learning & development, in the UK and overseas.

The Core Team

Simon Hamilton, Director and Founder

Having escaped from a twenty year business career as a Chartered Accountant I discovered the delights of working in the voluntary sector in the UK and overseas. It was this combination of experience of both sectors that led me to set up Three Hands in 1998. Since then, I've worked at the interface between the business and voluntary sectors, devising and implementing a series of pioneering programmes designed to benefit both. I'm lucky enough to have worked all over the UK and internationally, from Mongolia to the Kalahari Desert. One of the first Three Hands Socially Responsible Development™ programmes we devised, the Pfizer 'Children's Hospital Playbox Challenge', won a National Training Award.

I joined Three Hands in 2005 to help develop our relationships with companies and charities, and to devise and deliver innovative Socially Responsible Development™ programmes — all of which has kept me both very busy and very fulfilled! Prior to that I'd gained experience in both the private and voluntary sectors. I spent three years at Business in the Community, working on various corporate community involvement projects, including setting up and launching the Croydon Commitment, a local business-community partnership. I have an MBA from IESE Business School, Barcelona, and I've worked with NGOs in La Paz, Bolivia dedicated to assisting orphaned and deaf children. In an earlier part of my career I was a director of a successful publishing and marketing business.

I'm responsible for managing Three Hands' overseas projects. I used to be a Director of Raleigh International and I've spent over ten years developing and managing UK and overseas expeditions and projects. I have excellent experience of in-country organisation in many parts of the world, particularly specialising in Africa, central America and Asia.
