Coller Capital and Trees for Cities
A community day for all staff at private equity company Coller Capital.
Coller Capital had never before run a Community Day for all staff but they saw the potential to both engage employees and make a valuable contribution to a local community by doing so. Working with chosen charity Trees for Cities we devised a day that would meet the team outcomes that Coller were looking for — a stretching project that would involve working successfully together, challenging the team's world-view, having a truly enjoyable day and making a difference to others. 85 of Coller's employees worked for a day with residents of a housing estate in Stockwell, south London, building and planting raised beds, flower-boxes, creating artwork and teaching the children to grow plants. With the help of Brazilian drummers, the Coller team created a band which literally drummed up local people to come to a barbeque at the end of the day to celebrate the new gardens that had been created.
"Just a quick note to say thank you again and well done for making yesterday's event such a great day — speaking to local residents they really loved it and I think this is quite clear when you look at the photographs taken on the day. It was a pleasure to work with your team and all volunteers really embraced the challenge — it also seemed to be a great network opportunity with staff from different departments catching up."
