A community day with a difference
British Land’s annual Community Day involves 300 of their staff on 30 volunteering projects with charities based around their property assets in London.
For the last eight years, Three Hands has designed each project, addressing the genuine needs of community partners and their beneficiaries. Projects range from skills-based, working on strategic initiatives or supporting services users; to befriending, putting on community celebrations and social events; to manual activities, whether interior decoration, gardening or environmental conservation.
The kinds of outcomes that charities often tell us about are development of their beneficiaries, better relationships with supporters and physical improvements.
“The British Land volunteers were so helpful, enthusiastic and compassionate towards our service users. The day went really well and we would love to invite them back again for a skills development workshop.”

“Being a small charity is not always easy to get support in terms of staff training. The whole training day was so valuable and will be an asset to
us in years to come.”
Daniel Yap, Playground Manager, The Log Cabin, 2019
“It was excellent to get to interact with British Land staff members with a variety of expertise to get their strategic input on possibilities with our Rich
Mix membership schemes. The volunteers were open-minded, enthusiastic and a real help.”
