What happens when staff and customers volunteer side by side?

Employee volunteering has grown from strength to strength in recent years with more companies reporting higher numbers of staff getting out into the local community every year.

Nationwide Building Society is no different – in the last two years, the building society has seen employee involvement in its Citizenship agenda grow from 6% in 2012 to 56% this year. But Nationwide has not stopped there…

Earlier this year, Three Hands worked with Nationwide to pilot ‘Side by Side’ – a new volunteering programme, which brings together members (Nationwide customers) and employees to form a team of volunteers supporting various projects in their local community.

Over the course of two weeks, 80 volunteers worked with four charities across Bournemouth. See the results for yourself in Nationwide’s new film.
