Super Thursday!

We’re all about creating business value and social value hand in hand, so when we get to do that across all three of our strands of work, on the very same day, we get pretty excited!

Thursday last week saw us work with many great businesses, people and charities across our People, Citizenship and Social Insight agendas. Here’s a quick summary…

People: We kicked off Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Skills Exchange programme, involving 20 teams of interns working with four of the bank’s charity partners over six weeks to address the charities’ strategic issues, all with a view to developing the interns’ business critical skills whilst they deliver tangible benefits to charity partners.

Citizenship: Over 180 employees from British Land volunteered on 22 projects that we had set up with charities, social enterprises and schools across London. They worked alongside over 150 children and students and 215 community members, including people with learning disabilities, job-seekers, older people, and people facing mental health difficulties as well as running workshops for the management teams of three charities.

Social Insight: We ran the last day of an innovation process that saw a team from Royal London prototype new products and services for life and critical illness insurance customers with a cancer diagnosis. The insight came from working closely with cancer support charity Maggie’s in Manchester and the result will be better experiences for customers with cancer and those around them.

One day, more than 400 participants from business, 27 community partners, dozens of non-profit staff and beneficiaries, and three strands of work focused on business benefit and social impact – a super Thursday indeed!
